EJ is Back to School Today!

If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers.  ~Edgar W. Howe

What would you say about that of Edgar Howe's "back to school quote"? Would you go insane if your own kid doesn't spend time away from you?

I wonder if some Mommies and Daddies or guardians would agree to Mr. Howe's quote. I'm always grateful that there's school for children so that they gain knowledge and get formal education each day they go to their classrooms. If not for these schools, whether public or private ones, where would our great leaders, doctors, engineers, teachers or other professions be?

However, we thought of home schooling our little boy so that we can closely watch and teach him not only academic lessons but also continuously remind him of good manners (which we strictly do whenever we are together). On the second thought, if we home school our little boy, he would miss on socializing and interacting with other kids his age.

Anyone of you fellow parents home schooling your kids?

Today is my son's first day of class as a 3rd grader at his school in Greenhills, San Juan (Philippines). After a very busy summer months, it's finally time for kids to go back to school!

What a relief you'd say?

Not me. I always want to keep an eye on my 9-year old son who's always curious to try new things and always have a 'say' about everything.

But I have to let go so he can socialize and interact with other kids at school and hopefully come back home with great knowledge and better skills than what he acquired from home. After all, that's what we expect when we send our kids to school, don't we?
