NaBloPoMo 9/13/12: Someone I Wish I Could See Again

Ah well, I signed up for these prompts, didn't I? So hey yeah, I must as well do this one huh?

There's someone I wish I could see again,
ironically, that someone is who I wish not to see again.
Why bother to see someone again
who doesn't bother to make efforts to see me again?

Again, again?!
Now I hate this word "again"!
I hope that someone will take the pain
if ever there's a chance for us to meet again.

You know that there's someone I ache to see again
yet dreading to cross paths with that someone.
You know when someone caused the feeling of hurt
that doesn't diminish even when you are apart.

There's absolutely no point to collide
with that someone who only know to snide.
Who wants to hear another lie
from that someone who's an expert to lie?

Yes! There really is someone I wish I could see again
I ache for another chance to hug that someone
But at the same time, I want to avoid the pain
meeting that someone who left me in pain.

So again, this someone who I wish I could see again
is the same one I wish not to see again.
If you are reading this and you know it's you,
don't bother to ask me again, for I'm certain that I don't wish to see you.

Is there someone that you wish to see again?

Preserving Mankind with Kojie.san Men

How can one preserve the concept of manliness in this modern age of liberal views and cultural influences?
To preserve the concept of manliness, men must always be the core of strength, discipline, moral values, good upbringing, logical, practical and objective. In this modern age of liberal views and cultural influences, men must know when to empathize yet not overtly emotional.

It is also a must for men of modern age to have athletic physique and be hygienic at all times without being obsessed with the flaws of physical appearance.

Above all, men must maintain being the person that his own family can always rely on whether in good times or rough times.

What is manly?
It is manly to emulate role models and heroes. Manly it is, as well, to pursue partners and not just timidly express interest

What does a modern man signifies?
It isn't stone age anymore to see a man not conscious of their personal hygiene. Noteworthy to add that a man in this modern times must also have conscious effort to attain better physique.

NaBloPoMo 9/12/12: Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder... or Is It Not?

Good Lord Boyet, my beauty, though but mean,
Needs not the painted flourish of your praise:
Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye,
Love's Labours Lost by William Shakespeare 1588
Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tongues.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

What does this phrase literally mean?

UsingEnglish.com says:

Different people will find different things beautiful and that the differences of opinion don't matter greatly.
Cambridge Dictionaries Online says:
Not all people have the same opinions about what is attractive.
Therefore, perception of beauty is subjective. What's beautiful for you may not be as beautiful for others. e.g. Sadly for Filipinos, fair skin is more attractive than tanned skin. This perception should be blamed for Filipinos' colonial mentality or what colonizers have taught Filipinos: white skin is better and more beautiful. Hence, the reason why there's a lot of advertising campaigns in the Philippines with ridiculous slogans like:
Get whiter skin in 7 days!
Having fairer skin for Asians is like a status quo (or an irrational preference for the current state) because fair skin is associated with being elite and that they don't work at the farm or any jobs that require to work under the sun the whole day. So most Asian actors pay high price to be "white".

On the contrary, most, if not all, non-Asians adore tanned skin because tanned skin means they can afford to go on holiday trips, lay down at sandy beaches sunbathing.

So you see. We really do have different perception about what is beautiful.

What is beautiful for you?

NaBloPoMo 9/11/12: Which Would You Rather Not Lose: Vision or Hearing?

Having eyes, see ye not? And having ears, hear ye not?
Mark 8:18 - King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
And do ye not remember?

Indeed, what is the point of having eyes if you don't see what's being shown? You'd see negativity rather than see the beauty unfolding around.

You have ears yet you don't diligently listen and worse, have dull understanding.

History is told again and again, yet the lesson of it is forgotten.

If neither eyes nor ears are being useful and you were asked, which would you choose to keep? Vision or hearing?
Earlier, I tried to walk around my house with my eyes closed. I walked out of my bedroom, then through the hallway towards the living room. From there I struggled to find my way out through the front door. I hit my leg at one furniture and almost fell over the couch, which wasn't too bad because couch was soft.

It seems easy to find way around without eyesight especially if you can visualize the location of each rooms in the house and where furniture are. But how about making my favorite drink in the morning, my coffee? And how can I make my son's pancake if I can't see?

I want to die an old woman, with my good eyesight, knowing that I served my purpose as a mother to my only child and as a good citizen of my country. Therefore, I don't think I'd ever want to imagine to lose eyesight even if I can memorize my way around because vision is far more important to lose than hearing.

Try to walk around your own house blindfolded. Find out by yourself if you can reach the front door without falling off. When you've done so (or not), let me know whether you agree or disagree that vision is far more important.

Purse #Giveaway (US only) Ends 9/24

Red Purse with Zebra Stripe Trim and Rhinestone Cross
Red Purse with Zebra Stripe Trim and Rhinestone Cross

Isn't this bag so gorgeous? Perfect for fashion-savvy ladies!

Easy entry for this purse giveaway so take your CHANCE now to WIN a fashionable purse.

This is one of my favorite reviews. I love purses and I love red! When Lisa Adams, creator of Purses.TV, graciously offered me the chance to review one of her purses I was so excited! Then when I saw this purse on her website I was even more excited.
This bag has a big middle section with a couple of those built-in pockets. There are two other sections that provide extra storage, as well.

I like the silver metal rings on either end that help the purse stay upright (Plus, it adds some more bling. And who doesn't like the sound of that? I know I didn't raise my hand!).

The make-stuff-bigger-fairy must have a cousin...the cute-little-metal-feet-fairy! She has visited A LOT of the bags here, let me tell ya! But that's okay because it's for the greater good, right?

If you like bling you will like these purses. There are also purses without bling available for those of you that prefer your purses a little less showy. One of the great features of this purse is the "feet" on the bottom (see bottom picture). They are little nubs on the bottom of the purse that keep the purse itself from touching the floor when you sit it down. Nice! These purses are made with quality material.
I give Purses.TV an A+!

NaBloPoMo 9/10/12: They Flash Upon that Inward Eye

They flash upon that inward eye
which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Daffodils are beautiful, aren't they?

Those poetic lines above were an excerpt from the poem "Daffodils" (1804) by an English poet William Wordsworth.

Mr. Wordsworth referred to memory as "inward eye". Do you remember things around you present or of past through sight? Or through other senses?

I think I remember more through sight. For instance, I used to be able to draw people's faces, without looking at them, but by just remembering their facial features.

When remembering telephone numbers, I remember them by the direction my fingers go through the keypad. I can still recall phone numbers of my work in Saudi Arabia, my old number in England and even the first ever phone number I had in Manila.

I rarely use bookmarks too because I take note of page number before closing the book I was reading.

I also remember when we all got worried when my youngest sister was out very late. At the time, I tried to recall the address she showed me briefly written on her notebook. I recited it out loud and we went to that address. Gladly, I was correct and that my sister was alright.

Nowadays though, the very good memory I had is somehow fading?!

I keep forgetting things! Is it age?! Goodness me! Is it my diet? Or is it stress-related?

I think it's the latter. Whatever's the cause, I better do something to get better... again.

How do you remember things? Through sight or other senses?

Blog Ease #Blogathon 2: Casino Royale 007-Themed Outfit

Blog Ease Autumn Blogathon:
Blogger Challenge 2
Favorite Outfit

An opportunity to wear an evening gown (or a tuxedo for men) and be glamorous even for one night at an exclusive black tie party is something that no woman (or man) in the right frame of mind would say no to.

Would you?

Off I went scouting for something that wasn't too much attention-grabbing type yet a suitable decently-woven black evening gown as soon as an invitation for a black tie party reached my hands. Didn't take long before I found a decent boutique of evening gowns and dresses.

I'm glad the lady at the boutique was kind and patient enough (which was rare in Bermuda, to be honest) to help me find my evening dress until I found the one that I thought was most appropriate for me. Not quite sure if this gown I chose was steeply-priced at the time, but I loved the fit so I paid $200 for it. I hoped though I wasn't ripped off. What do you think?

The black tie party was themed Casino Royale a.k.a. James Bond 007 movie. There I was just watching others play "whatever-casino-game" that was. I gave away my chips because I don't like gambling nor do I want to understand the objective of casino games. They seem to be having so much fun though. And I was happy enough to see others being happy, having the time of their lives while spending theirs and my chips!

Dreamily, I hope, it wouldn't be too assuming if I imagined myself as one of the Bond girls eh?

Just kidding Mr. Bond!
Black Evening Gown at 25% OFF!

Oh by the way, I'm selling this gown at 25% off or better offer. Let me know if you are interested.
