NaBloPoMo 9/10/12: They Flash Upon that Inward Eye

They flash upon that inward eye
which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Daffodils are beautiful, aren't they?

Those poetic lines above were an excerpt from the poem "Daffodils" (1804) by an English poet William Wordsworth.

Mr. Wordsworth referred to memory as "inward eye". Do you remember things around you present or of past through sight? Or through other senses?

I think I remember more through sight. For instance, I used to be able to draw people's faces, without looking at them, but by just remembering their facial features.

When remembering telephone numbers, I remember them by the direction my fingers go through the keypad. I can still recall phone numbers of my work in Saudi Arabia, my old number in England and even the first ever phone number I had in Manila.

I rarely use bookmarks too because I take note of page number before closing the book I was reading.

I also remember when we all got worried when my youngest sister was out very late. At the time, I tried to recall the address she showed me briefly written on her notebook. I recited it out loud and we went to that address. Gladly, I was correct and that my sister was alright.

Nowadays though, the very good memory I had is somehow fading?!

I keep forgetting things! Is it age?! Goodness me! Is it my diet? Or is it stress-related?

I think it's the latter. Whatever's the cause, I better do something to get better... again.

How do you remember things? Through sight or other senses?
