8:30pm 31st of March year 2012 was the start of Earth Hour.
What does Earth Hour means? Earth Hour is an event to turn the lights out for an hour to take a stand against climate change. It started in Australia, year 2007,
where around 2.2 million individuals participated in turning their
lights out for an hour. The year after, Canada and 35 other countries
joined in.
Through the power of social networking, invitation to switch lights off was extended to everyone until Earth Hour became a global event. Last year, 135 countries switch lights off for an hour. Hence, a commitment to a more lasting action against climate change.
This global event is scheduled on the last Saturday of every March.
Can you stand an hour or more of darkness? An hour of no television, no radio, no computer? Did you somehow participate in this year's Earth Hour in anyway you can? What did you do for the mother Earth?
